A moment is defined in so many ways—an instant, a point, an occasion, an importance. Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum experiences hold many defining moments for a family. From the occasion of that positive pregnancy test, be it an exhilarating or scary moment, motherhood begins again or for the very first time. Regardless of which number this “positive test” is, it becomes a turning point in the life of a family. Pregnancy may seem like an eternity in ways—those moments of discomfort, discussions, decisions, growing, and more, but these are mere moments in the scheme of your life. Labor brings an occasion of its very own—moments of excitement, pain, laughter, fear, dancing, moving inward, trusting, breathing, pushing, and letting go. Just when it seems these moments have lasted an infinite amount of time, one point changes everything when your baby emerges, and your family increases by one (occasionally more). Then comes the only moment that is more than merely a point in time—you fall so deeply in love that the infinitesimal amount drowns the moment away. Many more moments occur over the next few weeks—moments of joy, soreness, pride, fullness, adoration, sleeplessness, and more.
