MIDWIFE SPOTLIGHT
Midwife Kaitlin Gauna, LM, CPM

Story
I am the youngest of six kids and my mother's fourth home birth. I came so quickly that my father caught me, my sister named me, and I was weighed on a fruit scale at our local supermarket. I guess that is where my love for birth—and adventure—was born. At 18, I began my journey to become a midwife through medical missions. I trained as a student midwife in developing countries, providing care in East Africa and India. I spent two years traveling and one year practicing as a hospital midwife, supporting births in extreme circumstances with minimal resources. This is where my passion for creating a safe, intentional birthing environment truly grew. After returning home, I continued my midwifery training and interned at a busy birth center. In 2018, I founded Moments Midwifery. To date, I have attended over 500 births. I am also a mother. I have experienced pregnancy, birth, and loss in deeply personal ways—welcoming three of my daughters at home under the care of incredible midwives, and grieving three miscarriages along the way. These experiences shape the way I show up for my clients, with both reverence and understanding for every path to parenthood. I share this work with my loving husband and our three girls, who are growing up surrounded by the beauty and strength of birth.
